TCS Supported CENTER OF EXCELLENCE SMAC

MAHENDRA ENGINEERING COLLEGE AND TATA CONSULTANCY SERVICES JOINTLY INAUGURATES THE CENTRE OF EXCELLENCE - SMAC (Social, Mobile, Analytics and Cloud Services) Mahendra Engineering College made a new Research Centre of Excellence – SMAC (Social, Mobile, Analytics and Cloud Services) jointly with TATA Consultancy Services. In the inaugural ceremony of this centre the college chairman Thirumigu. M.G. Bharathkumar, Executive Director Dr. Samson Ravindran, College Principal Dr. M. Madheswaran and the Team Leader Prof. R.G. Sakthivelan presided over the function. Dr. N. Vijayarangan (Senior Scientist) of Tata Consultancy Services inaugurates the Centre of Excellence - SMAC at Mahendra Engineering College campus and also discussed about the project details and its mile stones with the team members. The objective of this centre is to develop Virtual Learning environment through Virtual Classroom which provides each student with their own personal learning environment quickly and securely. It is a virtual copy of the normal classroom setting. This means there are usual components of learners attending the training, a live instructor presenting the materials, break out rooms, course notes and joining instructions. The difference is that there is no physical meeting space and everything happens online, Cost savings in terms of time and travel expenses, equipment, classroom space and technical support staff etc. Cloud Computing has become very popular because it moves the processing efforts from the local devices to the data centric facilities. Through these virtual learning we can share all the multimedia files well as even handwritten note too with flexibility to write via touch pen too, revealing the effect of live and face to face study and teaching.
